March 8, 2025 – Jacksonville, FL (Community First Igloo)
The Syracuse Orange are headed to the National Championship after a dominant 10-2 victory over the University of Alabama, officially eliminating the Crimson Tide from the tournament. Alabama, who came in with plenty of confidence but no results to back it up, will be playing a de facto game vs. Springfield tomorrow before heading back to Alabama.
Syracuse let their game do the talking, piling up 50 shots on goal and putting up a whopping 10 goals.
Game Recap
Scoring Summary
Syracuse wasted no time setting the tone, as Neve Padulo opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, marking her fourth goal of the tournament. The Orange kept their foot on the gas, with Ivy Dietrich adding another before the first intermission.
The second period is where things really heated up for the Orange. Leah Landry’s power-play goal ended up being the game-winner, but the floodgates were just opening. Padulo, Dietrich (twice), K.J. Jacobs, and Dietrich again all found the back of the net, running up the score while Alabama desperately tried to keep up. Even when Alabama managed to sneak in a couple of goals, including a power-play tally from Claire Carson, it was clear they were just trying to stop the inevitable.
By the time Leah Landry buried a shorthanded goal and Julianna Bucci notched her first of the tournament in the third, Syracuse had sent a loud and clear message: they weren’t just here to win, they were here to dominate.
Alabama Loses Their Cool, Syracuse Keeps Their Composure
With the scoreboard looking more like a football game than a hockey game, Alabama’s frustration boiled over but Syracuse kept their focus, closing out the game with discipline and class.
What’s Next?
Syracuse will face the University of Tampa tomorrow to close out pool play, but the real challenge is set: The Orange and the Spartans will battle for the National Championship on Sunday, March 9, at 9:30 AM.
